Outdoor Program at LAS

Life on our Magic Mountain

At LAS, the outdoors isn’t something we visit—it’s where we live. Perched high in the Swiss Alps, our campus sits in the heart of an alpine paradise, surrounded by endless trails, forests, and peaks to explore. The mountains are quite literally our backyard, offering daily inspiration and opportunity for adventure. Here, every view reminds students that they are part of something extraordinary: a school built on the Magic Mountain.

Living and learning in the Swiss Alps means unparalleled access to one of the world’s most iconic natural landscapes. From towering glaciers and alpine lakes to pristine trails and world-class ski resorts, the Alps offer endless opportunities for discovery and growth.

The Alps are our classroom and playground. After school, students can head outside to climb, hike, or mountain bike right in our own alpine region—or try something new, like ice climbing, snowshoeing, or via ferrata. Our Alpine Institute also includes larger adventures that challenge and inspire, from multi-day expeditions and mountaineering weekends to participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Whether exploring Leysin’s cliffs or summiting peaks across Switzerland, LAS students develop confidence, teamwork, and a lasting love for the outdoors.

Recent weekend outdoor adventures included:

  • Cycling trip to Gruyères
  • Hiking on the Aletch Glacier
