A WORLD FIRST | PRO 340

The skills that matter most in today’s world—collaboration, adaptability, creative problem-solving, and the confidence to present your ideas—cannot be learned from a textbook. That is why LAS partnered with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to become the first school in the world to offer Pro 340: a professional design studio adapted for high school. The course is modeled on SCADpro, the university’s acclaimed design and innovation studio—the same studio where companies like Disney, Pixar, and NASA partner and recruit designers straight from the classroom.

At the heart of SCAD’s mission is a simple but powerful purpose: to prepare students for successful professional careers. With PRO 340, we extend that commitment to high school students by placing them in a professional studio environment where business and design intersect, and ideas are not only imagined, but developed, tested, and brought to life as real-world solutions. -Dr. Gokhan Ozaysin, SCAD Senior Vice President for Academic Quality.

A Partnership with SCAD

SCAD is the preeminent university for creative careers and the No. 1-ranked design university in the Americas and Europe (Red Dot). With Pro 340, SCAD extends its renowned culture of creativity, innovation, and professional practice into select high school classrooms for the first time—and LAS is the first high school in the world to offer it.

“For the first time ever, SCAD pulls back the curtain to share our secrets of experiential, outcomes-based education at SCADpro with high school students and educators. PRO 340 is where you learn to create real products for real clients in real time. SCAD has perfected the process, and we’re eager to share this magic with teachers and learners.” -Paula Wallace, SCAD President and Founder

The curriculum’s ten modules were built by SCAD professors from disciplines spanning fashion, architecture, and beyond, and are taught at LAS by teachers certified as Pro 340 instructors. Throughout the course, students also engage with SCADextra academic coaches and SCADamp communication coaches to develop skills in teamwork, professional communication, and presentation.

“The client is real. The problem is real. The skills last a lifetime.”

Key Components of the Program

  • A Real Client Brief: Students spend the year solving a design challenge for a real company, working the way a professional studio works—in teams, on deadline, for a client.
  • Ten Studio Modules: Each module is anchored by a SCADpro case study showing how project-based thinking operates in professional, client-facing contexts.
  • Professional Coaching: academic and communication coaches help students sharpen teamwork, professional communication, and presentation skills.
  • Immersive SCAD Content: More than 40 original videos filmed across SCAD’s locations and facilities—plus photos, work samples, animations, and interactive elements drawn directly from SCAD students and alumni.
