Stepping into the role of Director of LAS Summer Programs at Summer in Switzerland has been an incredible experience, filled with countless moments of joy, discovery, and growth. Each summer, our picturesque Swiss alpine campus becomes a hub of summer fun as children from all over the world come together to share in the summer of a lifetime. Watching these young minds interact, bringing their diverse experiences and perspectives to the table, has been nothing short of inspiring. Seeing students challenge themselves in learning and building new relationships was incredible.

One of the greatest joys of leading this program is witnessing the transformative power of our alpine setting. Nestled amidst the towering peaks and lush greenery, LAS offers a truly unique environment for experiential learning. Here, the mountains are not just a backdrop but a living classroom. Whether students are hiking through alpine trails, honing their mountain first aid skills, practicing new languages, or engaging in hands-on innovation workshops, the natural beauty surrounding them enhances every aspect of their experience. Our programs are designed to cater to a wide range of interests, ensuring that there is something for everyone, from language acquisition and academic enrichment to creative arts and cutting-edge innovation.

Each day at LAS Summer in Switzerland is special. Coming in as a new Director, it was an honor to experience what each day of programming held for our students. Personally, my favorite event has to be Villeneuve Day. This cherished tradition sees the entire program head down to the lakeside for an afternoon of fun in the sun. It’s always a thrill to see students revel in their autonomy as they choose how to spend their day—whether that’s lounging on the grass with newfound friends, swimming in the clear waters, or trying their hand at the exhilarating banana-boating. There’s a palpable sense of summer and joy that fills the air on Villeneuve Day, making it a highlight of the summer for both students and staff alike.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the incredible team of staff members who pour their energy, time, and expertise into making LAS Summer Programs the enriching experience that it is. Their dedication to creating a nurturing and dynamic environment for our campers is truly commendable, and I am deeply grateful for their contributions.

But most of all, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the parents and, most importantly, the students. Whether they were new to the summer program, have alumni parents, or come back every year, we are grateful to be able to see them grow and flourish in this environment. The joy, energy, and voices of our campers make this program so special, and we value each of them. Seeing them grow, learn, and forge lasting friendships has been an absolute pleasure, and I sincerely hope to welcome them all back for another unforgettable Summer 2025!
