It was great having Kymani Montgomery ‘12 back on campus this month, as our inaugural Global Family Alumni Visiting Scholar!
Over the course of the week, Kymani worked with students from all grades, student and faculty leadership, our Technicolor Fellowship and DEIJ Committee, as well as all our faculty and dorm heads. The impact of his visit will help educate our community, and ensure we continue to work to make LAS an inclusive and welcoming school for those part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
From hosting interactive Jeopardy-style quiz games in the dorms to discussing school policy with senior leadership and so much in between, Kymani’s visit demonstrated how the expertise, experiences, and talent of our Global Family can have a real impact across our whole school community.
Kymani (he/him) is a Black, queer, educator who has worked with children and youth for over 10 years. He is the Programs Manager and Camp Director for the Ten Oaks Project in Ottawa, which is a small charitable organization working to help children, youth and families from 2SLGBTQ+ (two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer) communities thrive.
This initiative has been designed to deliver impact across our academic, student, and residential life programs, drawing on all the experiences and expertise of our Global Family. Supported by the Impact Fund, our Global Family Alumni Visiting Scholar initiative will hopefully continue to build meaningful and impactful partnerships between the Magic Mountain and our Global Family.
This program could not happen without your support. Thank you!
