The Spirit of Generosity: The LAS Impact Fund at Work!

As we kick off the new school year, our faculty are already buzzing with fresh ideas and proposals for exciting projects, upgrades to student spaces, and innovative programming—all made possible through the LAS Impact Fund. What better moment to celebrate the spirit of generosity in our community than by looking back at some of the amazing upgrades completed last year? From refreshed lounges and classrooms to new opportunities for student learning and connection, these projects remind us just how powerful philanthropy is in shaping daily life at LAS.

Below are just a few examples of what we were able to accomplish last year due to your generous support of the Impact Fund!

Budding entrepreneurs attended Youth Forum Switzerland in Lucerne, learning from Scott Weber, president and CEO of PeaceInvest (a Swiss-based investment firm that harnesses finance to build a more peaceful world), and leading global economist and computer modeler Clement Agoni, both of whom who strive to provide a positive change in the world:

Scholarship students were able to attend the world-renowned THIMUN Conference (Model United Nations in The Hague), collaborating with high school delegates from around the world to improve comprehension of international affairs and political difficulties through creative solutions:

Four students from the 4000m Club traveled to the iconic Saas-Fee region to attempt the 4027-meter Allalinhorn. After warming up with a session at a local climbing gym on Friday evening, the group rose early on Saturday to meet their mountain guide and begin the ski tour toward the summit. Two hours later, after moving roped together across snowy ridge lines and climbing with crampons, the group reached the summit cross, marking the students’ first-ever ascent of a 4000m peak in the Alps!

Our Padded Combat Team returned for a second time to Finland where students built equipment, learned event management and competed as the only youth team in this international competition—skills that prepare them to lead and grow this exciting new sport:

And these are only a few of the many projects that the Impact Fund supported in 2024-2025!

The faculty and staff Impact Fund grant proposals for the 2025-2026 academic year are rolling in and we can't wait to share with you the new projects that the Impact Fund will be supporting this school year!
