From the Tour du Lac to Antarctic adventures, publishing to puppies and lots in between, we caught up with Mariia in Boston in January.
Skiing or snowboarding? Skiing
Fondue or raclette? Can I pick Croute Mayen?
Where are you currently living? Boston, MA
What line of work are you in? I’m a Localization Program Manager at Meta
What are you working on right now? I am writing a personal development book, I mentor for the Project Management Institute, and I am learning as much as I can at Meta; working here is my dream come true. I'm also volunteering to help Ukrainian refugees who have moved to Boston to escape the war.
What are you currently enjoying? I’m trying to add Spanish to my list of languages, and preparing to visit Antarctica—if anyone has pro tips on visiting, please let me know! I’m also enjoying spending time with my new puppy, Maisie, and my 8 year old bunny, Watson.
What three luxury items are you taking to a deserted island? Survival manual, a boat, and a tent.
What is your fondest LAS memory? Ski season! Particularly when you wake up and Leysin looks like a Christmas card with all the snow, you know it will be a great powder day.
What is your advice to our graduating class about entering the big, wide world? Surround yourself with the right people, even if it takes a bit of time. Find what really makes you happy and do that regardless of what anyone else says. Aim high.
Is there a faculty or alumni you want to give a shout out to? Mr. Brinkmeyer is my favorite teacher and mentor, and the person who convinced me that riding the Tour du Lac was a great idea not once, but twice! The Meyskens family are the best Faculty Family anyone could ask for. And Ms. Dixon for everything she does for LAS—we all know she runs the school!
We want to hear about what our LAS alumni are up to! Get in touch and let us know at advancement@las.ch.
