Check-In - NEW!
Do I have to check-in when I arrive in Leysin?
Yes! All attendees, whether or not you are staying in on-campus accommodations, will need to officially check in at the 61st Celebration when you arrive.
Check-in will be in the Grande Salle at the Belle Époque (10:00-16:30 on Thursday and 08:30-12:00 on Friday) and at the 61st Pavilion (17:30-21:00 on Thursday). If you arrive before 16:00 on Thursday, please go directly to the BEC to check-in. If you arrive after 16:00 on Thursday, please check-in at the Global Family Dinner at the 61st Pavilion that night. The 16:00 and 18:00 airport shuttles will take passengers directly to the 61st Pavilion.
Access to the BEC Grande Salle is easiest via the Leysin-Grand Hôtel train station (the final cog stop, after the Leysin-Feydey station). This station is directly behind the BEC.
Access to the 61st Pavilion is via LAS village shuttle. Please see the shuttle map for stop locations.
All 61st Celebration guests must wear their lanyard and ID card to access all 61st Celebration events, meals, and activities. Those not registered for the 61st Celebration will not have access to the 61st programming.
Where do I go if I'm staying in the dorms?
Everyone should first check-in at the BEC or the 61st Pavilion (depending on your arrival time), and then there will be a campus shuttle to take you to your dorm building. The dorm head will greet you and give you your fob for your dorm building and room.
If you are staying in the dorms, it is imperative that you return your fob (and key, if applicable) upon your departure! There will be drop boxes available during Sunday departure.
Dorm residents can see all the details about their dorm stay in our 61st Celebration Dorm Resident packet (which will also be available in hard copy in the dorm rooms upon your arrival).
Transportation - UPDATED June 1
Train
The train is the best way to travel in Switzerland!
Check out the Swiss (SBB) train schedule. Everyone arriving on Thursday, June 16 by train should depart at the final stop on the Aigle-Leysin cog: the Leysin-Grand Hôtel station. This station is directly behind the LAS Belle Époque Campus, where you will need to arrive to check-in.
For the remainder of the weekend, it is good to note that the Leysin-Versmont and Leysin-Feydey stations service the Savoy Campus while the Leysin-Grand Hôtel station services the the Belle Époque Campus.
On the map below, the train stations are in orange and the LAS campuses are in red.
LAS Airport Shuttle Van (pre-reservation required)
LAS will provide complimentary shuttle bus services between the Geneva airport (GVA) and Leysin/LAS campus on the arrival and departure days for the 61st Celebration for those who have already pre-reserved space on the buses.

If you miss your reserved shuttle, you can ride on the next one. If you miss the last shuttle at 18:00, you will need to take the train or other transportation to Leysin.
Sunday, June 19
Shuttles will leave the LAS campus at 03:00, 05:00, 09:00, and 12:00. Please refer to your personalized shuttle information in your Welcome Packet for your pick-up location, if you reserved a space on the Sunday shuttle. If you miss the shuttle, you will need to take the train or other transportation to GVA.

Please note that there is NO 61st guest parking available on the LAS campus at any time. Please use the campus and village shuttles to access the LAS campus for all 61st Celebration events. Anyone staying in on-campus accommodations will need to park at Lower Sporting and take the LAS shuttle to campus.
There is limited parking in the Leysin village, so be aware of the No Parking signs to avoid a fine or tow: All 61st Celebration guests are welcome to use the Lower Sporting parking lot for the entire weekend.
LAS Campus + Village Shuttles

Activities - UPDATED June 9
LAS is offering a wide variety of complimentary activities by pre-reservation on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 in the morning and afternoon. Registration for activities is now closed and we are no longer able to make changes.
When should I arrive for my activity?
Note that attendees MUST arrive at their activities 10 minutes before it begins/departs to ensure their spot. Activities will begin promptly and your spot to a capacity-limited activity may be given away if you are not at the meeting point on time. View the updated Activities Schedule for meeting locations for each activity.
What can I do if I didn't reserve a spot in any of the activities?
Anyone is welcome to enjoy a variety of Drop-In Activities without a reservation! Check out the options below.
Will the gymnasium and workout facilities be open?
Yes! The Magic Mountain Athletic Center (MMAC) on the Savoy campus will be open during your time here.
Should I bring any equipment if I plan to hike, rock climb, board, etc.?
If you plan to do outdoor activities while you're here, having good footwear and layers of clothing for various temperatures and weather is a great idea.
You can certainly bring any of your own outdoor equipment, but we also have equipment available for all LAS-sponsored activities and our friends at Hefti Sports will be open if you would like to rent additional equipment while you're in Leysin.
COVID Testing - UPDATED June 1
Though the COVID numbers in Europe continue to fluctuate, we are heartened to share that within Switzerland we no longer have any COVID-related restrictions (quarantines, mask mandates, and covid pass requirements are no longer in effect), allowing us to move forward with our 61st Celebration as planned. As always, please stay up to date about the testing requirements for your personal travel to and from Switzerland. We will continue to update you if any changes to our local policies occur.
What COVID policies will be in place during the event?
There are currently no federal or local COVID restrictions in place in Switzerland, so there will not be any COVID-related restrictions for the 61st Celebration. Guests are welcome to wear a mask if they wish, but it is not required, and no testing will be required for the event.
PLEASE NOTE that Switzerland no longer has any quarantine requirement for people who test positive for COVID. Therefore, if you need to take a COVID test for your post-61st travel and test positive, you will need to arrange your own accommodations to stay in Switzerland until you are cleared to travel. The LAS campus will be preparing to welcome our summer students just one week after the 61st, we are not able to provide any on-campus accommodations after the event.
Will COVID tests be available locally during the 61st for post-event travel needs?
Sign-ups for COVID testing on campus during the 61st Celebration are now available! Please read the information below carefully before signing up.
Please double check the most recent Covid testing
If a rapid antigen test within 24 hours is accepted for your destination, it is advised that you pursue that option instead of a PCR test (e.g. for U.S.A.). There is less availability for PCR tests because of the logistics required for obtaining the results for these tests.
You are responsible for booking the correct day/time for your test to correspond to your flight requirements, taking into account the delay for results as outlined below.
Test result certificates will be available electronically by email to the address you provide when you sign up for the test at the following times:
- Rapid antigen tests taken at any time: 2 hours after the test time
- Friday morning (June 17) PCR tests: by Friday at 16:00
- Saturday morning (June 18) PCR tests: by Saturday at 18:00
- Sunday morning (June 19) PCR tests: by Sunday at 18:00
After 10:45 on Sunday, June 19 no PCR tests are possible at LAS. You will need to organize your own test independently using the links provided at the bottom of this email. We are not able to provide any Covid tests outside of the availability listed on the link below.
We have provided as many appointments for Covid testing as we possibly can. If all available appointment times are full by the time you try to sign up, then you will need to arrange your own test independently using the links provided at the bottom of this email. We are not able to add any more Covid testing time slots.
You will need to bring payment (credit card or bank transfer information only) to your test appointment or we will not be able to provide you with a test. A rapid antigen test is CHF 50 and a PCR test is CHF 140. We will run your payment on site using the LAS Flywire account.
Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time to coordinate payment. All tests will be administered by the LAS Nurse in the R-floor Savoy Health Center (3 levels down from the Savoy main entrance, or the same level as the Savoy parking lot entrance).
MOST IMPORTANTLY: If the results of your Covid test are positive, you will need to arrange your own accommodations to stay in Switzerland until you are cleared to travel. Switzerland no longer has a quarantine requirement for people who test positive, and because the LAS campus will be preparing to welcome our summer students just one week after the 61st, we are not able to provide any on-campus accommodations after the event.
Once you have read and understand the information above, you can view the available testing days/times and SIGN UP FOR A COVID TEST HERE. Please book a separate appointment for each person who needs a test and be prepared to provide the email address for your test results, a phone number you can be reached at in Switzerland, and the full legal name and date of birth for each person needing a test (date of birth will need to be provided in the European format: dd/mm/yyyy).

Depending on where you are traveling from, you will likely need an adaptor, but not a converter or transformer, for your devices. Switzerland uses Type C and Type J plugs, which are slightly different from plugs used in the rest of Europe. For more information click here.
What is the dress code for the dinners?
Thursday Global Family Dinner: casual
Friday Dinner by Decade: dressy casual
Saturday Banquet: cocktail attire, see photo below for reference (grass-friendly shoes recommended!) Jackets and ties are not required, but are welcome.
Weather and terrain-appropriate packing
A reminder that you are headed to the mountains, where it can be bright, sunny, and dry one minute and cloudy, rainy, and muddy the next. It could even snow! Please be sure to bring mountain-appropriate outdoor footwear, a raincoat/umbrella, and layers.
For those planning on joining any of the hiking activities, please bring appropriate outdoor athletic wear/gear and comfortable shoes that you can hike in. As you think about which luggage to pack, please remember that Leysin (both the mountain and the village) is quite hilly and steep – please pack accordingly!
Staying in the LAS dorms? We'll provide towels + basic toiletries
We will provide towels and very basic toiletries (shampoo and soap) for dorm guests. If you will need items such as a hairdryer, etc. please plan to bring your own (and see the note above about adapters).
Can I bring my dog with me to the LAS campus during the 61st Celebration?
We know that Leysin is a wonderful place to adventure with your dog, but we kindly request that you leave your favorite four-legged friend at home for the 61st Celebration. Due to the magnitude of the event, we cannot admit dogs onto campus during the event weekend. Thank you for understanding!
Bringing Children to the 61st Celebration
Which events will be family-friendly?
The Thursday Night Global Family Dinner is open to everyone, as are the daytime activities on Friday and Saturday - we'll have plenty of activity options that will be fun for kids and families! Childcare will be available during the Friday and Saturday activity times if parents want to participate in an adult-focused activity.
The Friday Night Dinner by Decades is for adults only (alumni and current/former faculty) and dinner will be served on campus for all other guests. There will be childcare (as well as dinner for the kids) available that evening as well.
The Saturday Night 61st Celebration Banquet is open to high school-aged students and adults and childcare (as well as dinner for the kids) will be provided that evening.
Who will be providing childcare during the event?
Our wonderful LAS Summer in Switzerland professional staff will be providing activities and childcare for children of any age during the event at our MMAC (the new Goat House) located on the Savoy campus. Many of these staff are teachers during the school year and all have passed a background check and have been vetted by our Summer in Switzerland Director.
How do I sign up for childcare?
Registration for childcare is now closed. If you did not register and need more information about childcare, please email us at advancement@las.ch.
When will childcare be available?
Childcare will be provided continuously during the following times:
- Friday, June 17 – 08:30-21:30
- Saturday, June 18 – 08:30-21:30
This is during the activities and dinner times for the 61st Celebration. You can drop off/pick up your child at any point during these times.
Where will childcare take place, and what do I need to bring for my child?
Childcare will be based out of the MMAC (for children 5 and over) and the Beau Site Valley View Room (for children under 5).
Activities, snacks, and supplies will be available for the kids in childcare. If your child needs personal items (diapers, wipes, bottles, etc.) then please be sure to provide those when dropping off your child.
