What is the LAS Global Scholarship?

The LAS Global Scholarship is a two-year International Baccalaureate (IBDP) scholarship awarded to students who exemplify impressive academic and extracurricular achievements in their home country but are unable to afford to attend our school. LAS Global Scholarships are both merit-based and means-assessed awards. Leysin American School in Switzerland is dedicated to developing innovative, compassionate, responsible citizens of the world. Our Global Scholars are high-achieving academics who demonstrate exceptional character and holistic development as individuals.

What are the applicant requirements?

The applicant:

Is currently in grade 10* and planning on completing the International Baccalaureate Program (IBDP)
Has an advanced level of English
Can provide records of impressive academic achievements
Can provide records of their extracurricular successes
Is financially able to pay CHF 10,000 (CHF 5,000 for a security deposit and CHF 5,000 for the student’s personal account) as well as three return flight tickets per year from Switzerland to their home country during the winter, spring, and summer breaks. Please note that visa application fees are covered by the applicant.

*Please note that the LAS Global Scholarship is only for students applying for the Grade 11 IBDP Program. Applicants for other grades or for one semester are not eligible and will not be considered.

What is the Application Process?

The first step to apply for the LAS Global Scholarship is to complete the application form.
Please note that you will need to be signed into a Google account to complete the application (you may need to open a Google account).

Before you begin the application, please have the following ready to go:

Provide contact information for a parent/guardian and your current school
Upload your transcripts (from the last two school years)
Upload two teacher references
Upload a list of extracurricular activities
Write one sentence that distills who you are and why you are an exceptional candidate for this scholarship (30 words or less).
Upload an essay to tell us more about how you will enrich our community at Leysin American School in Switzerland and in turn, how the scholarship will enrich you.

Upload evidence of your skills and achievements (e.g. certificates, awards, articles, etc. that are relevant to your learning journey)

Applicants who progress to the shortlist stage of the process will be contacted in February about the next steps. Please note that in the later stages of the application, parents/guardians will be required to provide information about their current financial situation and complete the formal LAS admissions process.
