Meet Our New Summer Director, Keri!

Director of Summer Operations

Meet Keri Porter, our new Director of Summer Operations! Keri has been working with LAS summer for 11 summers so far, and 2020 will be her twelfth! Before that she attended LAS Summer in Switzerland for six years, so she has truly experienced summer in Leysin through a student's point of view. We recently sat down with her for a little Q&A... Keep reading below to see what she had to say!

Q: What was your favourite part of last summer?
A: My favorite part of last summer was seeing the students and staff try the new activities we offered like hiking at Glacier 3000 or taking a dirt scooter down from Prafandaz. We are so lucky to be in such beautiful surroundings with fabulous activities on offer nearby, and it has been a pleasure adding to our repertoire each summer.

Q: If you were a camper what club would you sign up for and why?
A: I would probably sign up for Helping Hands Club, because I find volunteer work very fulfilling and it is our newest club! Each year we change our classes and clubs and this year Helping Hands plans to spend lots of time outside, possibly in the garden or working on projects to support our local community.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: When I was in university I majored in Computer Science and Mathematics and I can still count in binary on my hands. You can count up to 1023 just using your two hands!

Q: What's a fun fact about you?
A: Over the last several years I have gotten into cooking healthy food and can make a delicious curry, veggie burgers, or any type of soup (soup is my favorite)! However, I am terrible at baking because I never follow a recipe and just improvise ingredients and their amounts!

We are so looking forward to having Keri on board as our Director this year! She has already brought so many great ideas to the table and this summer is shaping up to be one of the best ones yet.
