LAS Students Compete in the Prestigious Wharton Global High School Investment Challenge

This fall, five ambitious LAS students from our Entrepreneurship Club are competing in the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious investment challenges with participants from over 60 countries. Hosted by the Wharton School’s Global Youth Program, this online stock-market simulation gives students a unique opportunity to test their skills in a university-level environment while connecting with the world of global finance.

At LAS, we look for ways to push beyond testing, and to equip students with the skills to thrive as tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and changemakers! Our Changemakers Program empowers students to tackle real-world challenges, developing creativity, resilience, and leadership through hands-on experiences. Competitions like Wharton’s perfectly complement this mission, enabling students to sharpen their research, collaboration, and critical thinking skills while also mastering the language of business and finance.

Unlike typical stock-market games focused only on profit, the Wharton challenge emphasizes strategic wealth management. Students must build and defend a thoughtful investment strategy before a panel of business professionals, gaining fluency in financial literacy, persuasive writing, and even public speaking. It is an extraordinary experience that mirrors the rigor of university-level business programs!

As part of the competition, LAS students will:

  • Research and analyze companies to create investment theses.
  • Build and manage a simulated portfolio in real time.
  • Present and defend their strategy before business experts.

This experience is further enriched through our Changemakers Microcredential Program, where students earn digital badges to showcase achievements in leadership, innovation, and collaboration. These microcredentials create a personalized portfolio that highlights each student’s strengths, giving them a powerful advantage for university applications and future career opportunities.

With the Changemakers Program and opportunities like the Wharton Global High School Investment Challenge, LAS students move beyond the classroom to explore real-world facets of business. This enables students to think like entrepreneurs, innovate with confidence, and emerge as compassionate, global leaders ready to shape the future.
