Vertical Victory: LAS Excels in the 2nd Annual Climbing Competition

The breadth and quality of our athletic program here on our Magic Mountain shapes the LAS experience. And here at LAS, we mean it when we say the possibilities are endless! Our athletic and activity offerings range from leisure paddle boarding on Lake Geneva to world-class ski training, allowing our students to choose a level of activity that best suits their needs. So whether our students are playing football against rival schools, hiking in the Alps, or playing in the rock band, we know they will find an activity they love!

One activity that our students love is rock climbing on our state-of-the-art climbing wall in the MMAC. So many students have found a love for climbing and have really honed their skills this year. Recently, 40 competitors from five schools participated in the 2nd annual LAS Climbing Competition.

The competition featured several outstanding performances from LAS climbers, with Nika ‘26 claiming the top spot in her age category, showcasing her exceptional climbing abilities. In addition, Grace ‘25 secured a commendable tie for 3rd place in the same category!

In the boys' 15-18 category, William ‘25 emerged as the champion, demonstrating incredible skills on the climbing wall! Antonio ‘26 and Nicholas ‘27 claimed the second and third positions, and Isaiah ‘26 and Harunobu ‘25 secured the sixth and seventh positions. It was such an exciting event, and we are so proud of our students for excelling on the climbing wall!

The competition wasn't just about individual achievements; it was also an opportunity for schools from this region of Switzerland to unite and create a sense of community. Before the competition, the entire climbing wall was reset to ensure that all the routes were new to everyone. This was done to ensure that the competition was fair, as competitors were not allowed to try the routes before the event.

The day concluded with a celebratory dinner in the LAS dining hall, where coaches calculated scores and awarded prizes to the climbers. The success of the event showed the growing popularity and talent within the climbing community at LAS! As the 2nd annual LAS Climbing Competition ended, the climbing enthusiasts are already looking forward to the next events. We can’t wait to see what they all achieve in the future!
