Summer in Switzerland Session 2: A Life-changing Experience in the Breathtaking Swiss Alps

At Leysin American School’s Summer in Switzerland, our students enjoy a unique blend of stimulating classes, outdoor adventure, and personal growth, all within the breathtaking Swiss Alps! Trusted by families worldwide, our program delivers the Summer of a Lifetime, where young learners explore, innovate, and build lasting global friendships in a safe, nurturing environment.

A Warm Welcome and Lasting Community

From day one, students felt at home through our signature Faculty Families program, where small groups of same-aged campers were led by dedicated staff. This approach fosters a close-knit community and encourages new friendships. Orientation activities included interactive games, campus tours, and a hike up La Berneuse, helping students bond and settle into their new home away from home in the Swiss Alps.

Morning Programs: Academic Excellence with Real-World Applications

Our summer morning program curriculum is designed to ignite passion and curiosity, and our students dug into their learning with enthusiasm. Some of our offerings included:

  • English and French language acquisition and immersion tailored to various skill levels.
  • Enrichment courses including a cutting-edge AI & Robotics program led by graduates from MIT and Stanford University, covering coding, 3D design, and robotics engineering.
  • Performing Arts offering both music and dance.
  • Global Minds students developed their public speaking, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities within the context of real world issues.

Transformative Leadership Programs

ALPINE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (ALP)
This immersive outdoor leadership course challenged students to master essential alpine skills, including trip planning, orienteering, wilderness cooking, shelter building, and first aid.
Led by experienced instructors and local mountain guides, campers spent mornings actively engaged in hiking, rock climbing, and camping—all while building teamwork and leadership confidence. The program culminated with an overnight camping expedition, where students applied their skills in a real-world setting.

EXPERIENTIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Designed to foster innovation and social impact, this program guided students through the entrepreneurial process—identifying challenges, brainstorming solutions, and turning ideas into action. By program’s end, students developed creativity, collaboration skills, and the confidence to pursue future ventures.

Afternoon Clubs: Engaging Creativity, Connection, and Adventure

Afternoons buzzed with clubs and activities such as cooking, robotics, sports, and performing and visual arts, encouraging campers to try new things and express themselves. Students embraced these opportunities for growth and play with contagious energy and enthusiasm.

Memory-making Evenings and Family Day:

Campfires, karaoke, themed socials, and games that nurture community spirit filled evenings with laughter and big smiles.
One standout tradition is Family Day, where our smaller Faculty Family groups embarked on curated day trips such as hiking, touring the famous Cailler chocolate factory, laser tag, and more, creating unforgettable memories together.

Fantastic Fridays: Weekly Thrills

Every Friday, students were given a break from routine with exhilarating activities including canyoning, paddleboarding, escape rooms, high ropes courses, surfing, and laser tag, providing abundant opportunities for fun and bonding!

Weekend Excursions Across Switzerland and Beyond

Weekends were packed with exploration and cultural discovery:

  • Junior campers (ages 9–12) enjoyed unforgettable trips to Zermatt, the famous Cailler Chocolate Factory in Gruyères, the vibrant lakeside town of Montreux to visit the Transportation Museum, Glacier 3000, and Aquapark!
  • Senior campers (ages 13–16) embarked on breathtaking journeys to Glacier 3000, the elegant resort town of Gstaad, adventure-filled Interlaken, historic Aosta in Italy, the inspiring Lausanne Olympic Museum, and Aquapark!

These curated excursions foster cultural appreciation, enrichment, independence, and lifelong curiosity while providing priceless memories in some of Europe’s most iconic destinations!

Celebrating Success and Connection

As with session one, the Summer in Switzerland session two culminated with showcases highlighting student creativity and leadership achievements in the arts, academics, and more. A final banquet and Summer Families Soirée bring the entire community together to celebrate new friendships, growth, and the Summer of a Lifetime!
