Summer in Switzerland: Learning, Adventure, and Lifelong Memories
At LAS, summer is more than just vacation, it’s a doorway for learning, cultural connection, and growth. Every year, Summer in Switzerland (SIS) transforms the Alpine village of Leysin into a global classroom, welcoming students from across the world to experience a unique mix of academic programs, outdoor adventure, and cultural exchange.
With panoramic mountain views, fresh Alpine air, and a warm international community, Leysin provides the perfect setting for a transformative summer. Whether students are doing their first robotics project, hiking to a mountaintop picnic spot, or presenting their research in a Model United Nations session, no two days are ever the same!
At SIS, we believe summer learning should be as fun and dynamic as it is educational. Our carefully curated academic programs encourage students to think critically, explore creatively, and grow together. Students can choose from a variety of morning programs, including:
- Language Acquisition: English and French
- Leadership Programs: ALP (Alpine Leadership Program) and Experiential Entrepreneurship
- Enrichment Courses: Performing Arts, DaVinci in the Digital World, and Global Minds
In the upcoming summer sessions, students will have the opportunity to explore so many different topics, from developing 3D-printed designs in Da Vinci Lab and shining on stage in the Performing Arts, to improving public speaking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in Global Minds. The French students will even explore poetry while navigating real-life conversations in town.
Afternoons at SIS are packed with exciting clubs and activities, from baking and visual arts to robotics and team sports. Whether students are painting Alpine landscapes or building shelters as part of our Alpine Leadership Program, there’s always an opportunity to learn something new, develop a skill, or make a new friend.
Weekends are reserved for epic excursions. Students may find themselves:
- Wandering through the medieval streets of Bern
- Dancing to live music at the Montreux Jazz Festival
- Boating across Lake Lucerne
- Experiencing international diplomacy at the UN headquarters in Geneva
- Having fun at BernAqua water park
Each outing gives students the chance to see Switzerland and experience its culture, history, and beauty firsthand.
One of the most powerful aspects of Summer in Switzerland is the diverse and inclusive community that is created here. Students from around the world share their cultures, traditions, and ideas, learning not just from teachers but from each other. We are so excited to welcome our summer program students to campus in the coming weeks, and look forward to making amazing memories together!
