Students Present Beautiful and Inspiring Works at the IB Visual Art Exhibit

Snowy mountains and a pink sunset provided a gorgeous backdrop for our annual IB Visual Art Exhibition at the Belle Époque Art Studios. Dozens of students and staff were delighted by a diverse, thoughtful, and deeply expressive collection of works including ceramics, drawings, paintings, mixed media, digital art, and photography.

The IB Visual Arts course challenges students to explore their creative processes, develop their artistic vision, and produce cohesive bodies of work that reflect their unique perspectives. Through problem-solving, divergent thinking, and hands-on experimentation with a wide range of contemporary practices and media, students build both technical proficiency and confidence as art-makers. The course is designed for those who wish to pursue visual arts in higher education as well as those seeking lifelong enrichment through art.

The IB Exhibition is an assessed culmination of two years of work, with both the artworks themselves and the planning and execution of the exhibition being evaluated. Students also submitted a Process Portfolio—a sketchbook research and planning journal that documents how they developed the works on display. In addition, each student completed a Comparative Study in which they independently selected three artists from different historical and cultural contexts. These three components together make up 100% of the IB Visual Arts score.

Hard work, honest introspection, passion, and dedication were all clearly evident in the works themselves and in the students' presentations. Through a diverse range of topics including cultural identity, cycles of nature, emotional exploration, science, and the human condition, each piece offered a window into what its creator finds most curious and compelling. The show was an opportunity to view beautiful and fascinating artworks and, equally, to get to know the students behind them.

We are incredibly proud of what this year's students have achieved and grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with them. Congratulations to all of our IB Visual Arts students, whose creativity, courage, and commitment continue to inspire us!
