Student Athlete Successes

What a week it has been for our LAS sports teams! Our students have been competing across a number of different sports, and boy have they been making us proud! 

First off, a big congratulations to the LAS Badminton team who, last week, played a match against local rivals, Kumon. Yihan Z. came second place in the girls’ draw while Wanshen C. achieved first in the boys’ draw! In the second leg of the match, our badminton players faced Kumon, this time in a doubles matchup. Newcomers to the team, Kanon Y. and Yuka H., displayed a great attitude and made it to the final stages coming in 2nd place! Valentino T. and Lucas K. played exceptionally, showing grit and perseverance to recover from a first set loss against their top seeded opponents and bring home another win!

Next up, the world of volleyball! The LAS Girls’ Volleyball team has been keeping busy and winning matches across the board—they were the recent winners of the SGIS tournament (hosted by LAS), the ADISR tournament (also hosted by LAS), and the Aiglon College tournament last weekend! The Boys’ Volleyball team has also been playing valiantly, and recently secured second place in the ADISR tournament! Big congratulations, teams!

At the recent SGIS swim meet in Gstaad, we were amazed by Nick A.’s efforts, who won all three of his individual events! Well done, Nick!

We’ve been incredibly impressed with the determination, hard work, and sportsmanship of our players, and we are very much looking forward to seeing our student athletes shine at upcoming events. We’ll be cheering on the Girls’ Football team at the ADISR finals next week at Le Rosey. The team recently qualified for the match, making them one of the top 4 teams in French-speaking Switzerland. Goooo Goats!
