LAS Students Discover the Thrills of Winter in the Alps!

As the incredible Swiss winter unfolds here on the Magic Mountain, we hope our LAS community is ready to embrace the season with their skis and snowboards! This winter, LAS offers a fantastic array of activities, making sure there is something for everyone to enjoy. From skiing and snowboarding to ice climbing and snowshoeing, students have countless opportunities to explore new experiences and learn new skills.

Students hit the slopes every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon during the winter term at our Leysin resort, which boasts over 60 km of ski runs. This unique experience allows our students to make the most of our stunning alpine environment while enjoying time with friends. Beginners participate in twice-weekly lessons led by skilled instructors, while more advanced skiers and snowboarders take weekly lessons and spend time exploring the mountain in groups of at least three. Highlights include the snow park and freestyle skiing opportunities—students love learning new tricks and challenging themselves!

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, the LAS Alpine Institute offers activities like snowshoeing, ice climbing, tobogganing, sledding, and more. These experiences provide a new way for students to explore nature and appreciate our incredible location in the heart of the Alps. Students also have the chance to visit other renowned nearby Swiss ski resorts, such as Glacier 3000, Saas-Fee, and Zermatt. This allows them to experience diverse terrains and conditions!

Advanced skiers can join the freestyle team, participate in freeride programs, or explore cross-country skiing, ski touring, and guided off-piste challenges. These activities allow students to expand their skills and try something beyond traditional downhill piste skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, all students receive safety and avalanche training, ensuring they are well-prepared for any unexpected situations on the mountain.

We are excited to watch our students learn and grow this winter—it promises to be an unforgettable season! Read more about our ski and snowboard programs here.
