Orientation Week: The Start of an Unforgettable Year at LAS!

Forging new beginnings, creating wonderful friendships, making incredible memories, and experiencing the beauty of the Swiss Alps – that’s just a small taste of what’s in store for our students this year! Whether they’re traveling to Leysin for their first year or their sixth year, we are so excited to have our whole community back on campus and ready for the new school year. 

We are so incredibly excited to get this year started and meet all our new students. Orientation in August is a great way for new and returning students to get settled, meet new people, bond with their roommates, and learn about their amazing new home! The first month at any new school is an adjustment period, but LAS students always settle in and enjoy the start of their new adventure before long! 

Orientation week handles both the fun aspects and the practical side of starting at LAS. New students will receive laptops, check into their dorms, have a social night with the student leaders, learn about their classes, and explore surrounding areas such as Montreux and Lausanne. When returning students arrive, fun whole-school activities such as the Berneuse hiking challenge and a barbecue will allow new students to integrate into the school community. Orientation week is a great way for students to feel settled into their new home and start to make Swiss life their new normal! 

In addition to Orientation Week, the first month of the semester allows students to find their feet. Fun activities like sports teams tryouts, a trip to Paris for Grades 7-10, and dorm activities will be a great addition to our students’ busy academic lives. Developing our students into well-rounded individuals with high academic performance and social and interpersonal skills is something that we feel is very important, and we can’t wait to see our students from different cultures and backgrounds working together, finding common ground, and making connections. 

As we embark on this exciting new school year at LAS, we look forward to the incredible journey that lies ahead for our students. From the breathtaking Swiss landscapes to our vibrant community activities, this year will be filled with growth, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. Orientation week and the first month of the semester offer the perfect start, helping students feel at home in their new home. We look forward to seeing our students thrive academically and socially, embracing new challenges, and creating a dynamic, inclusive community where everyone flourishes.
