LAS Students Love to Swim, Set, Slalom, and Slam Dunk!

The breadth and quality of our athletic program is a hallmark of the LAS experience. And here at LAS, we mean it when we say the possibilities are endless! Though many of our students love taking the télécabine or chairlift up the mountain on a sunny winter day, many also enjoy participating in sports like volleyball, basketball, badminton, and swimming during the winter season. Well done to all our hardworking students for competing over the weekend in these sports; you did incredibly well and deserve to be celebrated!

Our amazing boys volleyball team finished 1st place at a competitive tournament in Geneva hosted by La Chataigneraie. They defeated rival and host school La Chat in a very close final match. Congratulations to our players and coaches; we were all on the edge of our seats!

Our boys basketball team traveled to Zurich with their coach to play in a tournament hosted by ICS Zurich. They played five games in one day and finished fourth out of eight teams in a highly competitive field. Playing so many matches must have been tiring, so well done to everyone on the team for persevering!

LAS badminton participated in the annual ISL tournament down in Lausanne on Saturday, with over 100 players from nine schools all over Switzerland. Playing over six hours of court time, the students endured a long and exhausting day! A huge congratulations to all of our players for supporting one another throughout the entire tournament. Go Goats!

Three members of our swim team traveled with their coach to Basel to compete in the SGIS Swim Meet. Nicholas '27 finished first in his two races and set a new record for Swiss International Schools in the Category C 50-meter freestyle event! Lea '24 also had a successful day, finishing first place in all four of her races, and Augusto '26 also swam incredibly well!

Congratulations to members of the ski team who represented LAS last weekend in Wengen, Switzerland, at the European International Schools Ski Race (EISSR). This is a challenging ski meet with four events over three days on the World Cup FIS Lauberhorn ski slope. All of our skiers achieved personal best results, with many finishes in the top ten. Well done to Ayano '24 for achieving gold in the Senior A girls Super Giant Slalom event!

Congratulations to all our students for putting in so much effort and representing LAS across Switzerland. We are proud of all your achievements and can’t wait to see what else you achieve this semester!
