LAS Ski Teams Shine Across Freeride, Freestyle, and Performance Competitions

At LAS, we encourage all our students to push themselves and become the best skiers or snowboarders they can be. All our students in the winter months take part in ski afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students who are more skilled in technical skiing or snowboarding have the opportunity to join a number of teams that encourage skill development and competition preparation.

The LAS ski teams have been excelling across multiple categories, showcasing their exceptional talent, skill, and dedication. From Freeride to Freestyle and Performance skiing, our students have set a new standard in various competitions, bringing home impressive results. Here’s a recap of their latest achievements:

Freeride Success in Verbier
Congratulations to the LAS Freeride ski team for their outstanding performance at the 3rd annual Mountain Air competition in Verbier last week. With seven athletes representing LAS, the team delivered incredible performances, securing three podium spots:

  • Isaiah ‘26 – Gold in Cat A boys
  • Nika ’26 – Silver in Cat A girls
  • Luca ‘29 – Bronze in Cat C boys

These results show the hard work and passion our athletes bring to the slopes!

Performance Ski Team’s Triumph
The LAS Performance Ski Team offers advanced skiers a chance to refine their skills and explore different styles of skiing, whether for fun or competition. Every Tuesday, the team trains with a focus on different skills, from ski racing in gates to tackling the famous Leysin snow park.

Their dedication paid off at the ISL Grand Slalom ski race in Les Diablerets, where Joao '27 claimed first place in Cat A boys. Congratulations on this fantastic achievement!

Freestyle Team’s Impressive Season Debut
The LAS Freestyle Snowboard Team had an exciting start to their season at a mixed-discipline event featuring slalom races, team relays, and big air (an event where competitors perform tricks in the air after launching off a large jump). Competing against 75 participants, our riders delivered remarkable performances:

  • Tasker '26 – 1st place in slalom (his debut event!)
  • Gabriel '25 – 1st place in freestyle with a huge frontside 360 trick
  • Taisei '25 – 2nd place in slalom
  • Taisei '25 – 2nd place in freestyle with a stylish Japan air trick
  • Marie '28 & Wei Han '29 – 2nd place in team dual slalom (out of 10 teams)

These results reflect the commitment and creativity of our freestyle athletes, who continue to push the boundaries of this sport! With such strong performances across Freeride, Freestyle, and Performance skiing, LAS continues to set new standards in snow sports! Congratulations to all our athletes for their hard work and success—we can’t wait to see what’s next!
