A Recap of Family Winter Week at LAS!

Here at LAS, we love welcoming our Global Family to campus, and Family Winter Week this week was a truly special occasion! This annual week-long event gives families the opportunity to experience life at LAS, meet with teachers, and enjoy the beauty of our stunning Alpine home. We had a fantastic time connecting with everyone who traveled to campus, and we would like to thank all our visiting families for joining us during this very special week!

Family Winter Week began on Monday with a Welcome Reception in the BEC Grande Salle. Families had the chance to meet our Leadership, Academic, Residential Life, Admissions, and Advancement teams. This was followed by dinner on campus, giving families the perfect opportunity to relax, spend time with their children, and recover from their journeys!

Tuesday was a day filled with insightful sessions that highlighted academic achievement and student opportunities at LAS. The morning started with a session titled Changemakers: The Future of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at LAS, where families learned about our exciting partnership with Babson College and the Entrepreneurial Program for Innovators and Changemakers (EPIC) curriculum. This was followed by a presentation on AP/IB programs and university advising. Families attended Parent-Teacher Conferences throughout the afternoon and enjoyed locally roasted Horizonte coffee in Cave 23 between meetings.

Families attended an Art Exhibition and Music Concert in the Savoy Black Box in the evening. Families viewed incredible student artwork before enjoying a student-led concert. The event also featured a bake sale supporting the Sethule Orphan’s Trust, a charity based in Zimbabwe that LAS partners with annually.

Wednesday was another day of engaging sessions. Head of School Marc Ott shared updates about LAS in his presentation titled LAS Today and Tomorrow, providing insight into the school's future vision. Campus tours afterward enabled families to explore both the Savoy and BEC campuses. Later at the Student Life Exhibition, families learned about the diverse extracurricular opportunities available to students, including athletics, leadership, wellness, and travel programs. In the afternoon, families gathered at the Hotel Grand Chalet for a discussion with Leysin’s mayor, Jean-Marc Udriot, about the relationship between LAS and the local community, as well as upcoming developments in the village.

The day concluded with two fantastic evening events: the Family Winter Soirée, an all-school event where families met their child’s Faculty Family parents, and the Ott Family Reception in Cave 23, an adults-only gathering where families had the chance to connect with LAS faculty in a more casual setting.

On Thursday, as Family Winter Week came to an end, families gathered for the Au Revoir Coffee morning hosted by the LAS Parent Association. Over coffee and pastries, parents ended the week socializing with other families before departing for the long weekend.

Family Winter Week is always a highlight of our year, as it allows us to bring together families from all over the world to celebrate their children and LAS. We were pleased to be able to involve students alongside their parents in events this year, from academic presentations to outstanding artistic performances and parent networking opportunities! Thank you to all the families who joined us for Family Winter Week 2025—we loved having you here, and you are always welcome back on our Magic Mountain!
