Faculty Families Enjoy an Evening at the Tobogganing Park!

Faculty Families have played an essential role at LAS for many years. All students are assigned to a family of faculty "parents" and fellow students. The faculty family serves two primary functions: helping students navigate the LAS world and encouraging them to make new friends beyond their classroom peer groups. Every Wednesday, faculty families provide students with support, opportunities to create new friendships, and the chance to bond with their faculty parents!

This week, our faculty families enjoyed a fantastic evening at the renowned Leysin Tobogganing Park! With over 14 different pistes to choose from, faculty families had an enjoyable time sliding down the icy slopes together. Afterward, families enjoyed a hot chocolate and an evening snack in the warmth of the chalet and ice igloo on site!

This was a great event that our students really enjoyed! It pushed many of them out of their comfort zones, and they had a great time doing it! Instead of tobogganing, some families attended a special family night performance of the Musical "Into the Woods," which is showing this week. Families enjoyed some delicious pizza before going to watch the musical together!

While many schools offer advisors who may be primarily involved in the student's educational journey, LAS Faculty Families go a step further to ensure the social, emotional, and academic well-being of each student in their care. Sometimes, faculty families get together during the academic day, and other times, they meet for a social event like dinner, tobogganing, a movie night, or more! It’s a really great way to develop the social side of a student’s experience at LAS, and our students love the activities throughout the year!
