Discover Leysin: Must-Visit Spots and Activities for New Students

Nestled in the heart of Switzerland, Leysin offers a stunning and picturesque setting that lends itself to exploration, adventure, and connecting with nature. Recently, our student leaders put together a list of must-visit spots and activities around campus and in the village of Leysin, specifically for our new students. (Watch the video here). Our student leaders strive to make everyone feel welcome and at home, and they’re eager to help new students discover all the incredible options available here. Whether on campus or in the village, there’s so much to do and explore—students should make the most of their time in Leysin, trying new experiences and embracing fantastic opportunities!

The Magic Mountain Athletic Center (MMAC)
The MMAC is a fantastic place on campus for students to work out, meet new people, and try new sports. Many students hang out in their free time, and new students shouldn’t hesitate to talk to students and get involved, whether playing volleyball, using the gym, or grabbing a drink in the cafe!

Ice Skating
Ice skating at the Lower Sporting Center in the village is great for LAS students! Lots of our students love trying out this fun sport, and it’s a great way to cool down in the summer months! It’s also a great way to practice balance, an important skill for the ski season!

After-School Activities
Thanks to our campus's fantastic location and cutting-edge facilities, we can offer our students a variety of exciting after-school athletics and activities. Students interested in athletics can participate in soccer, swimming, tennis, mountain biking, skiing, and more right outside our front door. Artistically inclined students may choose to participate in the school play or musical, learn to play an instrument, or try out new mediums in an art activity. Other activity options include the Student Council, Human Rights Club, and National Honor Society. We are super excited to see what our students achieve this year!

Restaurants and Shops
Leysin has lots of fantastic restaurants and shops for students wanting to explore the town! Our student leaders recommend New World Burgers, the Crêperie, La Fromagerie for fondue, and Le Rouge et Le Noir for Chinese food. There are loads of different cuisines right on their doorstep in addition to the cafeteria on campus!

Walking and Hiking
Leysin is a nature-friendly village. The views are breathtaking, and many students from different countries have never experienced anything like it! Our student leaders recommend Eagle’s Nest, a walk behind the Savoy building that takes students to a point where they can see Lake Geneva. This easy walk is a great way for students to unwind and connect with nature after school.

At LAS, students are surrounded by endless opportunities to explore, connect, and grow, both on campus and in the village. From our athletic facilities to peaceful hiking trails that offer breathtaking views, there's something for everyone. Whether trying out ice skating, joining an after-school club, or trying new food at local restaurants, students are encouraged to dive into these experiences and make the most of their time here. With so much to see and do, we’re excited to see our students embrace everything Leysin offers and create unforgettable memories with new friends!
