Cowbell Games: A Joyful Spirit of Community and Friendly Competition!

The Cowbell Games are one of the most anticipated events of the school year at LAS—a week of fast-paced, high-energy, and sometimes delightfully silly mini-competitions between class years. Who will win: G7-9, G10, G11, or G12? Each day brings a fresh schedule of events, with points accumulating throughout the week. It's a wonderful opportunity for LAS students to build community, deepen friendships, and celebrate school spirit together.

Day 1: Indoor Sports and Team Spirit
The week kicked off with flag making, indoor football, curling, and ice hockey. There were plenty of laughs, a surge of excitement, and even a few surprising sporting talents emerged. Grade 11 took the day, followed by Grade 12, with Grade 10 and the middle school team (Grades 7-9) tied for last.

Day 2: Mountain Day at Leysin Ski Resort
The second day moved entirely up the mountain to the Leysin ski resort, with activities designed for every skill level and interest. Ski slalom, an alpage race, freestyle skiing and snowboarding, and snow sculpture making showcased the full range of our students' winter talents. Results followed the order of age, with the middle school team taking the lead, followed by Grade 10, Grade 11, and Grade 12. With bright blue skies, warm sunshine, and endless laughter, it was a spectacular way to close out the ski season in the Swiss Alps.

Day 3: Games, Obstacles, and a Historic Win
The final day of competition moved into the MMAC, featuring an obstacle course relay, duck-n-dive, sumo wrestling in inflatable protective costumes, and limbo.

Congratulations to the middle school team for taking the overall win for the week! This marks the first time in 13 years that they have claimed victory, and we couldn't be more excited for them!

Community, Adventure, and Fun—The LAS Spirit
Our students threw themselves into the games wholeheartedly, cheering each other on every step of the way. The Cowbell Games truly captured what makes Leysin American School so special: enthusiasm, connection, adventure, and community warmth. For families considering an international boarding school experience in Switzerland, events like the Cowbell Games reflect the heart of student life at LAS, where academics and belonging go hand in hand. The energy was electric all week, and we can still feel the excitement and joyful spirit echoing through the halls!
