Philanthropy at LAS: Cave 23 and the Impact Fund

The Impact Fund was established in July 2022 with the aim of directing fundraised money immediately toward elevating the LAS student experience, ensuring that all our students have the opportunity to make the most of their time on the Magic Mountain! Since its establishment, this fund has supported student initiatives and projects with over CHF 60,000 in grants, renovated four student spaces across campus, supported scholarship students to attend conferences around the world, brought four Alumni Visiting Scholars back to LAS, and funded five experiential field trips.

The Impact Fund has four main goals:

  1. Provide grants directly to faculty to support initiatives to enhance their teaching, activities, and programs

  2. Support scholarship students to fulfill their potential by accessing life-changing opportunities and experiences

  3. Deliver restricted projects that upgrade student spaces across our campus

  4. Fund experiential learning and engagement programs, including field trips and our Alumni Visiting Scholar Program

One example of a renovated space that has had a huge impact on the student experience is Cave 23. The student lounge at the Belle Époque campus was renamed Cave 23 to recognize the spirit of philanthropy shown by the Class of 2023, and its renovation was made possible by the generosity of their families in our first ever Senior Class Gift fundraising initiative. Since the launch of this space at the beginning of the school year, students have loved hanging out here, and it has become a real hub of the Belle Époque campus!

This area is used for various events and is a great space for students to unwind after the stresses of their studies. Tailored to the maturity levels of these students, it provides a sophisticated space where they can relax, play pool, enjoy the pinball machine, grab drinks and snacks from the cafe, and develop bonds with friends. We are so lucky to have such a great space dedicated to the Belle Époque students!

The success of Cave 23 is a direct result of the contributions made to the Senior Class Gift campaign by the families and students of the Class of 2023. Their generosity has left a lasting impact on the current student body and will continue to benefit future generations of LAS students. For that, we would like to thank them for their philanthropy.
