Business Students Explore Luxury Marketing at Gstaad Palace

Our grade 12 Business Management students recently had the unique opportunity to step inside one of Switzerland’s most iconic five-star hotels, the Gstaad Palace. This private tour offered an exclusive glimpse into the world of luxury hospitality and marketing.

Experiential learning is at the forefront of a lot of our academics at LAS. Providing students with the opportunity to see their classroom studies in the real world enables them to reinforce their learning, get inspired, and learn through hands-on experiences. As part of their marketing unit, students have been studying various promotion and pricing strategies, analyzing how businesses position themselves in competitive markets. Seeing these concepts applied at Gstaad Palace provided amazing real-world insight.

One of the highlights of the visit was exploring the hotel's three renowned restaurants, each with its own atmosphere and culinary identity. The students also had the rare chance to tour some of The Palace’s most prestigious rooms and suites, ranging in price from CHF 2,000-3,700 per night. Witnessing firsthand the detail and service offered at this level of hospitality furthered their understanding of pricing strategies in the luxury market.

Beyond the tour, the students attended a private Q&A session with the promotions and events team. They came well-prepared, having done prior research on Gstaad Palace’s market positioning, customer demographics, and high-profile clientele. Discussions were about the hotel’s collaborations with international schools and celebrities who frequent The Palace, as well as the evolving strategies used to maintain its prestigious reputation.

This visit was more than just an educational trip—it was an inspiring experience that brought classroom studies to life! In addition to this experience, we continue strengthening partnerships with local and international businesses across Switzerland and Europe to offer further hands-on learning opportunities. Ensuring even more LAS students gain firsthand experiences will further add to their understanding of business management and innovation in the real world!
