A Vibrant Week of School Spirit and Community-wide Fun

The forecasted snowfall wasn’t the only thing creating excitement on the LAS campus last week. The ADISR Boys Volleyball Championship and our annual Dorm Olympics brought incredible energy to the Magic Mountain Athletic Center, filling it with vibrant school spirit.

The week kicked off with an electrifying boys volleyball final. Our team played with grit, focus, and heart as classmates, teachers, and staff packed the stands to cheer them on. The competition was intense and every point was hard-earned, but our boys rose to the challenge and claimed the title of 2025 ADISR Champions. Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork made the entire LAS community proud.

Soon after, we celebrated one of the most beloved traditions of the year: Dorm Olympics. Each dorm came together as a team to compete in light-hearted, silly, joy-filled games that sparked laughter across campus. This annual event deepens friendships, strengthens dorm identity, and reinforces our sense of community.

As our Director of Residential Life shared, “The LAS Dorm Olympics is a wonderful opportunity for students to express their dorm pride. Through fun games and activities, the students bond with each other in friendly rivalry with the other dormitories. The level of enthusiasm and energy that our students display during Dorm Olympics is exhilarating and sets a fun tone as we move toward the finish of the first semester.”

Events included relay races, dance challenges, human pyramids, and the ever-popular “Hungry Hippo” game, where students formed a human wheelbarrow to collect plastic balls in a laundry basket. The crowd played a huge role too. Students showed up with face paint, colorful costumes, drums, balloons, handmade signs, and nonstop cheering, creating a truly spirited atmosphere.

Even the dorm heads joined the fun, suiting up in inflatable costumes for a hilarious mini hockey match that had the whole gym erupting with laughter.

Both events showcased the best of LAS: teamwork, tradition, school pride, and a whole lot of joy.

Some words about Dorm Olympics from our students:

Elijah '26: "What I like about the Dorm Olympics is the ability to bond and work with your dormmates to beat all the other dorms. It's a good load of fun for everyone who gets involved and participates."

Oona '26: "I love Dorm Olympics because we all get to support each other and bond over funny moments. I enjoy most doing games where we may look a bit funny but it’s more fun laughing and bonding with one another."

Samantha '26: "I love the Dorm Olympics because the whole dorm dresses up in their respective colors, and we come together in the MMAC to compete and have fun with friends. We cheer each other on and get really competitive. The overall camaraderie of the school is wonderful, and everyone can have so much fun, whether they’re competing in the games or showing off their dorm spirit."

Stratton '28: "I am disappointed I missed it last year but this year was really fun. I appreciate all the memories I made."

Ates '29: "This was my third year at Dorm Olympics and our dorm didn't perform as well as I would have hoped. But it was still fun and that's what matters."

Artur '28 Savoy Boys Dorm: "Dorm Olympics is a fun way to support your dorm and feel the amazing energy around you! Events like this are a refreshing break from academics, especially in the middle of the week."

Mr. P, Dorm Head Esplanade Boys Dorm: "I absolutely love how we are fostering a vibrant sense of community here at LAS! The Dorm Olympics is an amazing tradition that has been a fixture for decades. My ears are still ringing with excitement and joy!
