At LAS, we always aim to create an environment where students feel connected, supported, and inspired—and the BIG Program is a key part of that mission! This year, we're excited to see so many students in grades 10-12 apply to be Bigs, ready to mentor and guide younger students as they navigate life at LAS. Soon, each Big will be matched with their Little in grade 7-9, creating friendships that will last throughout the school year, and hopefully beyond!
The BIG Program is about more than just mentorship. It's about creating a sense of family within the LAS community, where students can lean on each other, share experiences, and build lifelong friendships. Whether it’s helping a new student adjust to life in the Swiss Alps, offering help on schoolwork, or being there for a chat, Bigs play an important role in making younger students feel at home on our Magic Mountain!
This October, we’re planning an informal event to kick off the program—a chance for Bigs and Littles to meet and begin forming friendships. At this relaxed dinner party, everyone can connect and get to know each other in a warm and welcoming setting. This first event will kick off the year in a fun and welcoming way, and we are excited to see our students create memories!
Like our Faculty Families, where students are assigned two teachers as faculty “parents” and receive guidance and support, the BIG Program reflects the community atmosphere that defines LAS. By providing opportunities for students to connect across different grade levels, we create an environment where everyone can feel supported and at home in our community. The relationships that form through the BIG Program help younger students feel more confident and supported as they adjust to their new surroundings, while the older students gain valuable leadership experience that will benefit them long after they leave LAS.
We can’t wait to see the connections and friendships that will form through the BIG Program this year. As our community comes together to support one another, we know this year will be filled with fun moments, personal growth, and lasting memories!
