An Update on the LAS Goats Sports Teams!

Here at LAS, we are so excited about all the sports activities and opportunities that have been taking place over the past couple of weeks. Alongside their studies, we encourage students to participate in various activities, whether creative, active, or membership on a sports team. Working within a team can build resilience, friendships, and new skills, and we have seen some incredible improvements over the past few weeks! 

LAS golfers were back in full swing at their local course in Aigle last week! A beautiful fall day brought some amazing views at our stunning course, and our golfers played exceptionally well. Four LAS students represented, with Evgeny '26 taking 6th place in a field of 40 players! 

The LAS boys basketball team played two games recently. The first was a semi-final cup game against École Nouvelle de la Suisse Romande (ENSR) and the second was a league game against Kumon (KLAS). The semi-final game was played on home soil and in front of a home crowd of supporters. The game was tough and closely fought! LAS took an early lead in the first quarter but the teams were evenly matched, and ENSR kept the score close for most of the game before gaining a 10-point lead in the final quarter. 

Our team was back in action the following week and played local rival KLAS. This time, the team was even more motivated for a win! KLAS took an early lead with a couple of 3-point shots, however LAS found their rhythm on offense and defense and at halftime, we took a 12-point advantage, ending with a 48-16 win for LAS! 

The LAS girls volleyball team hosted one of the calendar's biggest events last weekend, with 13 schools competing for the SGIS invitational tournament title! The girls showed exceptional team spirit and have improved significantly since the beginning of the year. Although they didn't make it to the knockout stage, they were undefeated in the consolation round and secured 9th place. The coaches and players should be very proud!

Winter is nearly here and our LAS freestyle team already secured some practice time this week! LAS secured a spot in what can only be described as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on Leysin's very own freestyle airbag! Select team members were invited to begin the season with this incredible treat, and they had the most amazing time!
