A Semester to Remember: Highlights from Fall at LAS!

As the year at LAS progresses, the fall semester has been packed with incredible experiences, opportunities for growth, and amazing achievements. From orientation week to cultural activities, incredible sports victories, and in-depth academic programs, the LAS community has embraced the semester with enthusiasm and community spirit. Here’s a recap of the highlights from this semester!

Orientation Week
The semester began with Orientation Week, welcoming new and returning students to campus. The week was designed to help everyone adjust to life at LAS, meet their peers, and settle into their new routines. Icebreaker activities, team-building exercises, and informative sessions added to the strong sense of community at LAS. It was the perfect start to an academic year!

Extracurricular Excellence
Our extracurricular program has been a highlight of student life this semester. From art workshops and music performances to robotics club and sports teams, students have explored their passions and discovered new interests. These activities provide an outlet for creativity and exploration and it was great to see students trying new things, particularly in our stunning Alpine environment.

Academic Achievements
From starting new courses to our recent exam season, students have excelled in their academic pursuits. We are so proud of everything they have achieved and we can't wait to take students on more experiential learning opportunities and provide them with even more hands-on learning experiences.

Adventures with Faculty Families
An LAS tradition, the Faculty Family Program, continued to strengthen the bond between students and faculty. Through shared meals, hikes, and game nights, these gatherings provided a home-away-from-home experience, developing support networks and creating lasting memories.

Outdoor Pursuits
The Alpine Institute guided students through the International Award expedition, where participants developed their survival skills and demonstrated perseverance in the Swiss Alps. Whether navigating challenging terrains or camping under starry skies, this experience was a transformative journey of skill development and teamwork.

Cultural Celebrations
The diversity of our community was highlighted during International Week, as students showcased their cultures through traditional clothing, performances, and cuisine. The week celebrated our diversity, highlighting the global community of LAS.

Cultural Trips
Cultural trips across Switzerland and Europe enriched students’ understanding of history and art, providing an immersive learning experience outside the classroom. Our students loved traveling to different countries, learning about different cultures, and developing language skills. LAS cultural trips offer unique experiences to students while providing them with vital life skills and opportunities to make new friends and connect with different cultures.

Sporting Success
In athletics, LAS teams did really well this semester! The girls’ football team took the MLS championship in snowy conditions, while the boys’ team earned second place in the ADISR tournament. Alice '26 led the badminton team to gold at the MLS Championships, excelling in both singles and team categories. The tennis team also celebrated individual victories, with Lucas '26 and Simmi '27 earning podium finishes.

The swim team secured silver and bronze medals, while the girls’ volleyball team ended their season with strong performances in SGIS, ADISR, and MLS tournaments. Meanwhile, the golf team took on the prestigious Evian Championship Golf Course, gaining valuable experience for future competitions.

Evening with the Stars
The semester ended on a high note with the Evening with the Stars event, where students impressed our community with their talents. From musical performances to theatrical showcases, the night celebrated the creativity and dedication of LAS students!

Holiday Banquet
At the end of the semester, we celebrated with a banquet for everyone in our LAS community. The dress code was formal and festive, and our students dressed up for the occasion! Family is an integral part of the LAS student experience, so coming together in a more formal setting was a great way to commemorate our community’s achievements.

As the fall semester ends, it’s amazing to reflect on everything the LAS community has accomplished and experienced together. This semester has been filled with growth, community, and new memories, from the excitement of Orientation Week to the incredible sports victories, creative showcases, and festive celebrations. We’re looking forward to the new year and showing our students everything the ski season has to offer. Have a wonderful winter break!
