Every year, LAS students have the opportunity to travel all over the world. This provides them with valuable cultural insights, an international perspective, and the chance to develop languages, life experiences, and personal skills. Cultural trips are a fantastic way for students to become global citizens, a key part of our school’s aim for student education. Recently, our students explored ten different destinations, from the waves of Portugal to the heights of Mt Vesuvius, forging new friendships and creating unforgettable memories along the way.
Experiential learning is an important part of the LAS ethos. Allowing students to learn through experimenting, try new things, and apply their studies to the real world makes them more grounded in their understanding of curriculums, and prepares them for life post-LAS. Our students had amazing experiences in May during the recent cultural trips, and it was a fantastic way to round up the school year!
The ten trips on offer included Cinque Terre, Madrid, Porto, Sicily, Amalfi, Puglia, Madeira, Portugal surfing, Malta, and lastly, Dubrovnik! The range of trips on offer was fantastic, and our students really enjoyed learning more about different cultures! Most of the trips focused on sightseeing and fun activities, including kayaking, hiking, and boat trips! Viewing iconic landmarks such as Pompeii, castles in Dubrovnik, and the colorful houses of Cinque Terre was incredible for our students to witness!
In addition to sightseeing, students participated in community projects. For instance, the Portugal surf trip included a beach cleanup, where students learned about the importance of environmental conservation and ocean ecosystems. Combining fun activities with learning opportunities empowers our students to become passionate about important global issues while enjoying the wonderful places they visit.
