Summer in Switzerland takes place at the Leysin American School in the alpine village of Leysin, Switzerland. This internationally recognized institution provides a range of amenities to SIS students, including separate boys’ and girls’ dormitories for each age group, a complete health center with full-time health professionals, Internet-wired classrooms, library and computer lab, visual arts center, multi-purpose gym and recreation center, and a state-of-the-art theater.
Campus amenities include:
- Fully functional classrooms with network access
- Elegant library with comprehensive multi-media design studio and separate computer laboratory
- Visual Arts Center, which includes a painting studio, a ceramics classroom with kiln, a modern darkroom, and digital editing lab for photography classes
- State-of-the-art Black Box Theatre
- Multi-purpose gymnasium, stage, make-up areas, dance studio, fitness center, and squash court
- Separate boys’ and girls’ dormitories for each age group
- Large dining room with open access for all meals and banquets
- Student recreation center “Red Frog Café”
- Recreation facilities in each dormitory
- Comprehensive health center with full-time health professionals
Leysin Village, a foremost Alpine resort in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, the “Suisse Romande,” is known for its sunny and invigorating climate, welcoming hotels and restaurants, superb sports facilities, and an international academic community. Perched on a plateau 1,400 meters above the Rhone Valley and Lake Geneva, Leysin is an ideal location for Summer in Switzerland (SIS); our students benefit from living and studying in a serene and safe environment.
The region hosts many festivals, sporting events, and museum exhibitions. First session students might experience the internationally renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, featuring some of the best musicians from around the world.
