Students Fundraise For Humanitarian Trip

A group of LAS students and faculty completed their latest fundraising event, the Bernuse Snowshoe Challenge, aiming to raise money for their upcoming service trip to Nepal. Five students and two faculty hiked from the town of Leysin to the summit of the Bernuse. Through donations, the group raised nearly CHF 4000.
The group will trek to a rural village in the Mugu region of Nepal for spring break. After trekking to the village, they will spend six days installing lights and smokeless stoves into the homes of impoverished villagers.
The group has been working all semester to raise money for the trip. The money raised will go to the light fixtures, stoves and school supplies for the habitants of the village. To learn more about the 2010 Nepal Shelter for Life trip, visit www.las.ch/lifestyle/nepal.html.
