IB Students Go Green!
January 22nd, 2010. Posted in Academic News

Model United Nations and IB Geography classes at the Belle Epoque teamed up for a five-day simulation of a conference to examine the human impact on Ecosystems while searching for more sustainable development.
Students were assigned the role of a “character” and were challenged to adopt their positions on the issues of development in the Amazonian Basin. Students wrote press releases, gave speeches and held press conferences in addition to writing official position and response papers.
Using the Copenhagen Climate talks as an example, students stated their character’s position on Rainforest Deforestation, what the consequence would be if it stopped, alternatives to the process and who their natural allies would be in the discussion. They read their closing arguments on Friday.
